What is GNM course


GNM stands for General Nursing and Midwifery. GNM is a three and half year’s diploma in paramedics. The course basically aims to produce qualified and prepared general nurses, who can effectively function as a part of the medical community for introductory level positions in the healing industry. The program has been intended to empower eligible candidates to address the health needs of the nation, community and individuals. They can also pursue Advanced Study and specialization in nursing while contributing to the health-based industry with patients’ responsibility and dedication. In short, it deals with the education of nurses in general healthcare, Nursing and Midwifery.

Eligibility


GNM course can be pursued after successful completion of the 10+2 level of education, in sine stream with physics chemistry and biology, as main subjects from a recognized educational board with a minimum aggregate score of 40%.

To do a diploma in GNM course and become a GNM nurse you should have terrible patience, alertness of brain and sense of obligation. Admission to diploma GNM course is provided on the basis of marks in the qualifying exam. However, some institutes and state give admission to diploma in GNM course, on the basis of rank got in Andrus test conducted by them. Assam GNM enters exam and Rajasthan GNM enter are two of such exams that are conducted to provide admission in the course in the respective states.

GNM course fee


The fee for diploma and GNM course, vary greatly for private nursing colleges and government nursing colleges. It can be anywhere between rupees 50 thousand per year to rupees 2 lakhs per year in private nursing colleges across India.

Whereas government nursing colleges offer this course by charging a nominal fee of rupees 15 thousand rupees to 30000 per year.
